"Without the program I wouldn't be living here."
The HomeOwnership Center of Greater Dayton began a program with Grandview Medical
Center to provide incentives for hospital empoyees to purchase homes in neighborhoods
surrounding its campus, including Five Oaks, Riverdale, Grafton Hill and Dayton View.
As homeowner candidates are identified by Grandview, the HomeOwnership Center steps
in with an array of homebuyer services and coordination of the special down
payment assistance program.

Mitchell Williams, a surgical technician at Grand View Medical Center, was the first employee to take advantage of the program. He recently moved into his new home with his nine-year-old son.

"When I found out about the program, I started looking in this area," says Mitchell. "It's close to work and day care is right down the street. We feel more comfortable living here than where we were. We were in a bad area of Dayton."

Mitchell's son made his school's honor roll for the first time when he knew they were going to move.

"His part is to do well in school and stay out of trouble," says Mitchell. "The Grandview program made buying the house possible. Without the program I wouldn't be living here. The program made it affordable for me."
