The HomeOwnership Center of Greater Dayton is reminding individual homeowners who faced foreclosure in 2009 and 2010 that, under an agreement between bank regulators and fourteen mortgage servicers, they may be eligible for a free, independent review of their foreclosure. The newly EXTENDED deadline to submit a request for review is December 31, 2012.
This review is absolutely free, conducted by an impartial, independent consultant group. If the review finds that financial injury occurred due to errors, misrepresentations, or other deficiencies in the foreclosure process, the consumer may receive a lump sum cash payment, as well as a correction to their credit report, payment for lost equity, reimbursements for related out-of-pocket costs, and other remediation. Lump sum cash payments can range from $500 to, in the most egregious cases, $125,000 plus equity. Potential eligibility includes individual homeowners who lost their home to foreclosure as well as those who currently reside in the home whether they are delinquent or current with their mortgage.
The Independent Foreclosure Review is a legitimate program mandated by The Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (federal bank regulators). The process will include a careful review of paperwork involved in foreclosure actions initiated by the following mortgage servicers:
